Lords of the Manor Luxury Country House Hotel

Lords of the Manor Luxury Country House Hotel

Based in a former country house turned into a rectory, the original 17th century structure has been added to at various times over the centuries. It first became a hotel in 1972 and was acquired by the Munir family in 1997 who consider it both a home away from home and a hotel.

For me it has become the perfect home away from home, nestled in the Cotswolds in the picturesque area called Upper Slaughter (from slough meaning low spot). I have stayed here in the springtime, in the the autumn and once for Christmas. Over the years I have been charmed by its country charm and its very English comfy elegance.

Its restaurant serves exquisite dinners and the gardens become more delightful to stroll in each time I visit.

While not supported by the administration, dousing the student in alcohol and decorating him or her with shaving cream confetti or whatever is at hand caught on in the 1970s. Quite fun to see!
