The walled hill town of Monteriggioni -- Gated Entrance. One town where it is still possible to walk on portions of the old walls.

San GImignano's main street is loaded with colorful shops, but the cozy streets that branch away offer some sweet surprises.

Lucignano has some handsome towers to photograph and quiet streets to wander, as well as one very good lunch place.

Pienza remains my favorite of the larger hill towns, shown here with its arched entrance. Lovely place to wander, dine, shop and slow down.

Montalcino may be sauntered around in less than an hour, yet is filled with delightful nooks. Just to the left of this stairway is a lovely trattoria serving sumptuous earthy dinners.

On our last day we journeyed south to photograph the small town of Civita di Bagnoreggio which sits on its own rocky prominence as if carved from the rock it sits on.
